Supply List for your new English Angora or Holland Lop bunny:
~Cage Size- 22”W x 18”D x 21”H…I have pans that pull out of the bottom of the cages. In the pans I put environmentally safe, dust free, pine pellets. These cages have wire bottoms as that is best to keep Angoras coats clean and their feet are heavily furred. For the other breeds I install standing boards in their cages to give them an area off the wire to prevent sore hocks.
~Food Bowl- small galvanized metal dished that can hang off of the side of the cage
~Food- I feed Producer’s Pride Rabbit Feed…do not buy food from a pet store that contains treats such as nuts and berries
~Papaya and Pineapple- I feed small amounts of dried pineapple and papaya to prevent fur balls and when I have an existing fur ball situation.
~Water Bottle- purchase a large water bottle from a pet store…do not give your rabbit a bowl of water, it can be very messy and frustrating to clean up
~Hay- I feed horse quality timothy hay…you can purchase this from a pet shop…I put my hay in a hay rack on the side of the cage so that it doesn’t get tangled in their coats as it would if simply placed loose in their cages.
~Toys- I use recycled toilet paper rolls (they love them!) and some wooden toys
~Grooming Tools- Slicker brush and a wide toothed comb
~Litter Box- I purchased larger galvanized metal food dishes that can attach to the side of the cage (they work really well)
~Exercise Pen- I use an exercise pen made for dogs as my rabbits exercise pen
Supply List for your new Chinchilla:
~Cage Size: The larger the cage you have, the better. I have cages that are 34”W x 19 1/2”-22”H x 23”L…I have pans that can pull out of the bottom of the cages. In the pans I put environmentally safe, dust free, pine pellets.
~Food Bowl- either a heavy ceramic dish or a small galvanized metal dish that can hang off of the side of the cage
~Food- a high protein chinchilla food and a supplement
~Water Bottle- purchase a large water bottle from a pet store…do not give your chinchilla a bowl of water, it can be very messy and frustrating to clean up
~Hay- I feed horse quality timothy hay…you can purchase this from a pet shop…I put my hay in a hay rack on the side of the cage as I have done for my rabbits…..honestly they have a make a game of pulling it out of their rack but it does not tangle in their coats.
~Toys- I give them some wooden toys, wooden perches and hanging beds
~Grooming Tools- Slicker brush and a wide toothed comb…they also require dust baths a couple of times a week. You need to purchase chinchilla dust for these dust baths, not sand! (they love their dust baths and it’s a riot to watch!)
